The Domains of Thriving
Mastery Mini-Sessions
Colors = Domains of Development
Pie Pieces = Social and Emotional Skills
Each Skill has three key practices, that are interactions with students.
Welcome to the Domains of Thriving Performance Support. Each of these sessions is meant to help you focus on one Practice, or series of interactions with students. These are critical for them to learn skills. You can assess yourself, reflect on your skills and plan for the future.
There are four different pieces:
-
Practice Videos
-
Practice Checks; links to Google quizzes.
-
Practice Quick Guides
-
Practice Worksheets
We recommend focusing on one Practice at a time and using all of the performance support for that Practice. Set up a series of lessons and follow-up for yourself. There is no one way to proceed, but here are two strong options:
-
Practice Check for priming. Video for introduction to new ideas. Quick Guide for cementing your knowledge. Worksheet for reflection.
-
Video for new material. Practice Check for application and testing. Worksheet for reflection. Take the Quick Guide into the field for follow-up.

The goal is for you to do something different and deliberate with your students so that they have the best Outward Bound experience. If you have any questions and would enjoy a follow-up conversation, please reach out to the Outward Bound Professional Learning Lab with OBUSA.
